1.The mayor has such a schedule that it takes weeks to arrange an interview with her.

  1. (A) hasty
  2. (B) tight
  3. (C) diligent
  4. (D) routine

(B) tight

關鍵:such a ___ schedule that...

2.Jane started as an art designer, but now she has a professional studio of her own.

  1. (A) official
  2. (B) instant
  3. (C) amateur
  4. (D) elementary

(C) amateur

後面是 professional(專業的),前面就要找相反詞 amateur(業餘的)。

3.The teaching at the famous high school soon attracted more than a dozen well-qualified applicants.

  1. (A) career
  2. (B) vacancy
  3. (C) expectation
  4. (D) inspiration

(B) vacancy

  1. (A) initially
  2. (B) genuinely
  3. (C) alternatively
  4. (D) fundamentally

(A) initially

5.It has been confirmed that a balanced of fruit and vegetables is a key element to good health.

  1. (A) dimension
  2. (B) integration
  3. (C) provision
  4. (D) consumption

(D) consumption

a balanced consumption = 均衡攝取。

6.As a shy boy afraid of making public appearances, Timmy the thought of speaking before large audiences.

  1. (A) dreads
  2. (B) stresses
  3. (C) wanders
  4. (D) escapes

(A) dreads

dread = 非常害怕、畏懼,常用 dread the thought of + V-ing。

7.To the newly-crowned winner of the piano competition, music is his life’s , which he has devoted himself to whole-heartedly.

  1. (A) resource
  2. (B) impact
  3. (C) passion
  4. (D) emphasis

(C) passion

  • impact 是「影響」,「人生的影響」語意不完整,也不會說 devote oneself to an impact。

8.The drunk driver who shouted at passers-by and them with glass bottles was quickly arrested by the police.

  1. (A) shattered

  4. (D) condemned

(B) assaulted

assault sb. with sth.

  • overturned 是「翻倒、推翻」(overturn a car / a decision),不能用玻璃瓶翻倒路人。

單字:assault 攻擊;襲擊|passer-by 路人(複數 passers-by)|arrest 逮捕

  1. (A) crash
  2. (B) tumble
  3. (C) elbow
  4. (D) struggle

(C) elbow

關鍵:___ one’s way through the crowd = 用某種方式穿過人群。elbow 當動詞是「用手肘推擠」,elbow one’s way through a crowd = 用手肘擠過人群。

  • struggle 是「掙扎」,通常說 struggle through the crowd。題目是「___ my way through」這個結構,最標準的固定用法是 elbow one’s way through。

10.Deadly shootings on US campuses have raised concerns about how to prevent such tragic incidents from happening again.

  1. (A) swift

  4. (D) grave

(D) grave
